Convert Powerpoint Presentatoin To Avi Video

About AVI
AVI (Audio Video Interleave), first introduced by Microsoft, is a special case of Resource Interchange File Format (RIFF) which divides a file's data into blocks or chunks. An .avi file is used to store audio content or video content compressed with various codecs for playing by Windows Media Player on the computer installed with appropriate codecs. AVI files are supported by Microsoft and even by some standalone DVD players.

How to convert PowerPoint to AVI
Here follows two methods that are frequently used in converting PPT to AVI video.

Method 1 Using a professional PowerPoint to video converter like Moyea PPT to Video Converter
Moyea PPT to Video Converter is a popular program that enables you to capture sound and frames from the PowerPoint presentation and save them to any video format like AVI, WMV, MPEG, FLV, MP4, VOB, 3GP, 3G2, MOV or DV. Compared with other third-party software solutions, it is undoubtedly a perfect choice - with the best output effect yet the most competitive price to give you fun from video making.
Let's have a look at how to save PowerPoint to AVI with the magic converter.
Step 1 Launch the program and add PPT files
After you have Moyea PPT to Video Converter installed on your computer, launch it and click Add to import PowerPoint files.
Step 2 Set the style to AVI and specify a directory for the output

Step 3 Make advanced settings in the Profile interface
Click the Settings button next to Profile, and you can make advanced settings for profile, audio and video parameters in the pop-up Profile interface. Then click OK to save the current settings.

Step 4 Customize the output effects
Click the Customize button to define the output AVI file yourself. This contains Timing, Music, Audio, Slide and Conversion. Set each tab as you need.
Step 5 Start to convert PowerPoint to AVI video
Click to start converting the presentation to AVI file. This may take some time. So leave it to Moyea PPT to Video Converter and get yourself a cup of coffee.
When the conversion is done, click Finish to view the AVI files in the specified folder. You can play the AVI videos with Windows Media Player to test the effect, shown as follows:

Method 2 Creating AVI video from PowerPoint with Screen Recorder
You can also record your presentation using a screen recorder when it plays on your screen. An application like SnagIt will grab your slideshow at approximately 10 frames per second in case that the presentation has no embedded video clips. But if a full motion video is embedded in your slideshow, you need to use a powerful capture app like Camtasia ($299 per copy).

Disadvantages: when using a screen recorder, you have to open your PowerPoint many times, for you can't convert a pile of PowerPoint at a time. Also, you cannot add music or any other effects in during the conversion. Note that this may cause loss of animations, transitions, sound tracks or something else in the source, too.

Compared the two methods above, now you can find Moyea PPT to Video Converter is the better - easy to use yet cost effective and powerful enough to preserve every dynamic element in your PowerPoint.

Downloading and compressing a video with virtualdub, how do i solve this problem?

I just got a new computer with vista, and i downloaded a video from google video with Free FLV Converter, its an avi. But when I want to open the file into Virtual Dub (its great and I've been using it for a few months now), I get this message:

« Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'MP42' (Microsoft High-Speed MPEG-4 V2)
VirtualDub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable. »

What shall I do?
Many thanks in advance for your help!

The obvious thing is that you are missing compatibile codec. You may try installing K-Lite Mega Codec Pack or Vista Codec pack, perhaps one of these bundles has it included...

Video Transcoding -- the Avi Container

AVI stands for Audio Video Interleave, this is a very popular video container which has been spread all over the web by P2P and file sharing enthusiasts. AVI is a compression container originally invented by Microsoft and the developer who came up with this container is called to Avi Cohen. This video format can contain different video and audio tracks just like the DVD can however, when it comes to subtitles and format is actually short-handed, in order to address this problem many fixes and hacks have been developed but these are mostly the reason why some players will have playback compatibility issues.

When it comes to subtitles it is often recommended to use an exterior file which could be hardcoded into the video itself, this way video players won't have any problems when it comes to compatibility and handling AVI files. Back in the early 90s when the format was invented there were no playback devices which could handle this format, only computers are able to encode and read these files, almost a decade later specialized devices which are able to playback such format became available, these were basically modified CD players which were able to read the files and then project the video and audio tracks to a TV or monitor.

CD players which were able to playback the AVI container where later on modified and turned into DVD players which had the capability of reading conventional DVDs, MP3s, JPEG and AVI content. Multiformat DVD players became popular due to the fact that people were not only interested in playing DVDs on them, but he also wanted to playback their music in MP3 format or wave in addition to their online media.

This particular multimedia container has been heavily tweaked in order to allow the users to include more features in such container, the modifications were done thinking about other formats such as MKV or Matroska and MPEG-2 which is commonly known as the DVD format. DivX labs have been pioneers of the improvements done to the AVI container for the use of their special codec, DivX also came up with the DivX multimedia extension which is basically an enhanced form of the audio video interleave format, other codecs applied to it are Xvid and H.264, however this latest one has playback compatibility issues in certain standalone multimedia players.
