What is a good, free corporate IM client?

I am looking for a corporate IM system, be it stand alone or client-server architecture.

Something a long the lines of Jabber XCP or Microsoft Communications Server.

Those are great, but I don't want to hassle with proving to the big whigs that it is worthwhile to purchase. I can get the sign off on something free for sure.

I would recommend you Jabber.

For the server, you can use openFire (http://www.igniterealtime.org/projects/openfire/index.jsp). I've been using it, and I love it more than any other Jabber server.

For the client, you can try Pandion (http://www.pandion.be) or Pidgin (http://pidgin.im). I've been using both of them and I can't complain about them.

UPDATE

All of them are free (as in beer). Stop wasting your money on stuff that you can get for free with the same (if not better) quality.
