The bad effect of Windows Vista
Clearly, the public opinion of Windows Vista has left a deep impact on Microsoft. However, based on the biggest Windows 7 beta testing process in history, we can say that it sure won't look like the upset Vista launch at all.
There was a solid chance that your computer ran like crap or your programs didn't work if you installed Vista on your PC within the first month of its release as the drivers compatible with Vista were not available. But that's not the case with Windows 7. Windows 7 hardware requirements are basically the same as they are for Vista and it runs better than Vista on that hardware.
The results suggested that there is little difference between Vista and Windows 7 performance when we ran Vista and Windows 7 on two test machines.
Windows 7 actually ran beautifully during the test, even on net books. So, the difference isn't based completely on feelings. Even Microsoft never offered Vista for net books, but is happily offering Windows 7 to the net book category.
Windows XP was a great OS of its time. Windows Vista failed to wind people hearts. But what people said about Windows 7 was that its more fast, solid and the easiest Windows yet. Windows 7 launch on October 22nd is a good chance for Microsoft to win people heart again, but it's exactly what Microsoft needs right now. Windows 7 is something people can grab without fear.

Why can't I install Xp service Pack 3.0 and can't run Vegas Pro 9?
My computer is telling me that I have an up date and when I install it it says in the "the following updates were not installed" box it said - Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0 Service Pack 3 Security Update for Windows XP Tablet PC and Media Center (KB953295)
and when I try to run Vegas Pro 9 ( I have 9.0d) it says - Failed to initialize the common language runtime engine. Please install the .NET Framework (download is available from Windows Update).
Are they both related? How can I fix them??? I need Vegas Pro working ASAP help would be appreciated.
I myself have tried to install the XP SP3. The main reason may be that you don't have SP 2 installed. The problem is you have to search out the Update as is is not posted directly on MSUpdate site, but if you dig deep enoough you should find it. If you dont have SP2 or 1, then you cannot install 3 until the first two are present on your computer. Its a heirarchy update, not a backwards intall update so if you think that by installing SP 2 you will get the updates from 1, you cannot. Another posibility is that you may have to update your BIOS settings, you must contact your manufacturer if there are updates.

At first step go and right click the package, then click “Properties”. GO to the Version tab, under “Other Version Information” and click “Installer Engine.Update.exe” should come into view in the “Value” field. For determination the version, click Installer Version. The version of the installer that is used in the package comes out in the Value field. Package whose description at the “general” tab is the “Self extracting Cabinet”, some steps to be followed to find out the “Update.exe” or the “Hotfix.exe” is used. You have to extract the update package named “KBArticleNumber.exe” to a destined folder named “Extracted Package” in the C drive. Then you have to type some command at the command prompt and that is KBArticleNumber /X:C:ExtendedPackage.
Then go to the temporary folder which contains the extended files to update the software. You have to define the location the Update.exe file or the Hotfix.exe in that temporary folder. You can detect the Update.exe or Hotfix.exe version by right clicking the file and going “Properties”. Execute the version tab and then note the file version value. In this way you can update windows software. For the office software you will easily find the updated package version in the market. Sometimes Windows wants to update its software automatically then you have to respond the message that it gives to update itself. The latest Windows operating system Vista comes with its updated features. However you are recommended to use the updated Windows software and enjoy its new features.
