How do I get this driver to stop re-installing?

I am trying to uninstall the driver for my notebook's remote control, because it interferes with the keyboard controls for most games and makes them harder to play. However, whenever I uninstall it my computer has to restart, and once it's restarted the driver simply re-installs itself. How do I permanently uninstall it, or at least get it to stop re-installing itself? (The button marked "Disable" is always grayed out no matter what I do). The driver is called "Microsoft eHome Infrared Transciever." I am 80% sure that my question will not be answered and I will have this problem for quite a while. Sorry for the skepticism, but I have had very few questions on this site legitimately answered and I would like for that to change.

Answering you question with more questions... When you uninstall the driver, is there a check box labelled "Delete the driver software for this device" there? If so do you check it?

If you don't check the delete box the driver software will be sitting there when Windows does its plug and play detection, and hence it will simply re-install as you suggest. Mind you, deleting the driver doesn't always help because if plug and play doesn't find a driver it will go looking for one from Microsoft and, since it appears to be a Microsoft generic interface it will probably find one. (The one it finds might be more up to date than the one you're using.)

Is your machine up to date? Have you ran Windows Update recently and accepted all the optional updates, at least if their vaguely relevant?

You don't state exactly what your problem is, however it seems unlikely that it's an intended consequence of having an IR receiver, so perhaps it's something that has been fixed but isn't considered a critical "just install it whatever" update.

(Actually, since you can't uninstall the driver, how do you know uninstalling the driver solves your problem?)
