which should i remove? microsoft security essentials or avira? they said you should only have one anti virus.?

i got a virus from downloading a software
i have 2 virus protection which are Avira and Microsoft Security Essential
how can i remove the virus?

Technically, Microsoft Security Essentials in for malware/spyware, and not neccessarily for viruses, while Avira is an AntiVirus software. You should not really have issues simply because both are on your computer. You should, however, only have one providing your "real time" protection. The other can be used for on demand scanning.
Since you know you have a virus and these two programs are not cutting it for you, I suggest going online and downloading a program called "VipreRescue" which is an antivirus scanner that runs from a flash drive.
