Virus Protection for E-Mail Clients
Email is the most used of computer users. Sending and receiving email is done with special programs, known as e-mail clients. In this article you can read more about protection of email and email clients known. The level of virus protection to e-mail servers is an important point in the antivirus security as a way of examining all incoming and outgoing of the company and thus detects any virus before it reaches boxes Mail users.
As well as email is the primary means of spreading computer viruses using today, and therefore, is the most attention when designing a virus protection strategy in a corporate environment.
There are several factors that warrant the use of an antivirus solution for each client on the corporate network. The first is that often you access to an external address, do not go through the mail servers of the company, and therefore, the antivirus solution not analyzed.
Another reason is that many of the further spread viruses are released during the weekend, and are stored in the mail servers of the company. To not be detected from the beginning for many anti-virus, and having to upgrade times are greater than 4 hours in many cases, are not arrested upon entering the network and if you do not have antivirus protection on the mail client address when the user downloads the message with the virus attached, can become infected.
From the moment the virus is released, until the user connects the first business day, the virus may already be updated to detect it, and so the virus in the email client can be stopped before it is discharged by user.
Another point that deserves protection across email clients occurs in companies where there are users who access mail from outside the corporate network. When referring to e-mail clients are talking about applications like Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, etc., which is responsible for downloading the messages, sent to users boxes.
Initially, the virus had modules that worked only with major email programs. Even today many still have, it is important to note that the most complete option is one that offers protection for email regardless of client used.
The antivirus module can analyze email communications at the network operating system, given the possibility of not being tied to an e-mail platform in particular, since working-level analysis of the protocols used for downloading messages. In this way, protection is more complete, since companies can use more than one email client knowing that their messages will be equally protected.
Antivirus protection has both servers and clients provide a double protection against virus intrusion, increasing the level of security of a company's corporate network.

Is there a way to get free virus protection for my computer?
I am in Dubai. I am unable to download Microsoft Security Essentials from here. It simply states that it is not available in this country for download. My McAfee expires tomorrow and they have no customer service offices here. There is a problem with my key code apparently according to what their site spit back at me. I am very frustrated. It seems that I am still in a backwater as far as technology is concerned. Is there any free virus protection I could download in the Middle East?
The best is AVAST
It is the only one that has rootkit protection
it is the only one that has boot scan
Its good for a year
I use it on the computers that I have

Moths to Bugs, Bugs on viruses, now what? Computer Viruses and Anti Virus Protection
A historical timeline of computer viruses
1945 A moth trapped between relays in a Naval computer was discovered to be the cause of the problems of the computer. The navy commander then coined the terms "bug" to refer to problems with electrical appliances and "debug" to efforts to describe computer problems.
1949 A Hungarian scientist developed the theory of self-replicating programs.
1950-1970 A variety of electrical and computer related complications lead to the development of current viruses, including the illegal interception of phone calls "blue oxen" for phone calls and intercept.
Also during this time a computer "worm" was designed by Xerox Palo Alto Research Center to search for systems that are not functioning. Designed for efficient computer processing and to use the "worm" the father of the current generation of destructive viruses.
1983 One of the most famous cases of computer hacking, young computer hackers broke into U.S. government computer systems with an Apple computer and modem.
That same year, a Ph.D. candidate University of Southern California said a computer program that affects other programs by changing itself or the host program to some extent as a "computer virus."
1986 The beginning of today's global infection by computer viruses.
Examples include: Programmers in Pakistan releasing the first personal computer virus called "The Brain".
1988 A worm designed by a 23-year-old programmer invaded ARPANET (a division of the U.S. Department of Defense) computers off 6000 of their computers.
The 1991 release of PGP (Pretty Good Privacy), a free data encryption tool.
1991-2001 Many well known viruses were released, like "Melissa", which replicas of quickly and automatically sent to e-mail in Microsoft Outlook, "I love you", who sent copies of passwords and usernames stored on personal computers back to the Philippine designer of this program, The Anna Kournikova "virus, which was especially alarming to computer users and programmers as well as it was the beginning of the use of" toolkit "software that can help just about anyone in creating a computer virus.
2001 The Code Red worm (for systems running Microsoft Windows NT and Windows 2000 Server software), the Nimda virus, and the "Klez" worm which is to eliminate much of the current anti-virus software protection designed on the market at that time were released.
2002 "Root" servers, which are used to provide communication from the Internet, were hit by a virus, making the need for better protection of the Internet infrastructure.
2003 The "Slammer" worm caused damages to businesses worldwide.
2004 The "MyDoom" worm was introduced a virus that attempts to trick people to e-mail attachments to the virus by making statements in the message or re-opened include: form.
Antivirus Software Development
Many companies and countries claim to have developed and released the first anti-virus software product.
1987 European Bernt Fix claims to have made an anti-virus software
1988 The antivirus software Dr. Solomon's Anti-Virus Toolkit was released by Alan Solomon, of Great Britan.
1990's By this time there were about 19 anti-virus software programs, including the famous Symantec Norton Anti Virus software, and IBM ViruScan by McAfee's Anti Virus.
1994 A Symantec takeover occurred allowing it to acquire many of the smaller anti-virus software protection companies making it one of the largest anti-virus software services available.
In the year 1990 large companies were formed to develop anti-virus software. During this time the prominent company of Kaspersky Labs was as well formed as the development of antiviral Toolkit Pro (AVP) anti-virus scanner system. International distribution and product support became paramount in combating computer viruses with the transmission of information around the world, and the use of the Internet. Another prominent anti-virus venture during this time, the licensing of technologies AVP and F-Secure Anti-Virus.
As a result a number of well known vendors of antivirus protection were developed and still exist, including:! ALWIL Software Avast, AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic, AVG Professional, eTrust EZ Armor Suite, F-Secure Anti-Virus, Kaspersky Anti-Virus, McAfee VirusScan, Norton AntiVirus, Panda Antivirus, and Trend PC-cillin.
With the development, growth and competitiveness that many leading antivirus software programs to choose from each of them tried to special functions and features to develop, such as adjustment of scan controls, blocking, parental controls and advanced technology to make them distinct of the crowd.
To learn so much about viruses and the best possible antivirus protection software developers study computer viruses to develop for patterns in programming to better their familiar programming patterns that are used in many computer viruses and threats such as spyware detection. This antivirus software programs that are most effective active in their information gathering efforts and in catching threats before them on your computer, as well as providing updates for detecting viruses on a regular basis. It is important that the antivirus software program you choose is safe from threats embedded in images and emails we all communications via the Internet and computer contains.
Consumers should carefully research the products available and choose the combination of services and features that will most benefit to them and their families. Computer programmers are among some of the most creative and innovative minds in the world. As such, we can never be a "cure" for computer viruses, but maybe we can just the right 'medicine' in the form of an efficient find cost-effective and easy to use antivirus software system to control our personal computers and data safe.
