Dynamics GP Partner Orange County Newsflash: FRx Troubleshooting Notes
Normally, you implement FRx Financial Reporting for Microsoft Dynamics GP financial statements: Balance, Profit and Loss, Cash Flow and consolidated versions of these reports. FRx is very scalable and serves multiple accounting platforms: Great Plains, Axapta, Solomon, and others. For such reporting tool you should expect some required support budget. Normally, FRx installation, reports design and ongoing support is provided by your Dynamics GP Partner, or you could do self support, by searching Knowledge Base on your Microsoft Dynamics Customer Source. In this small publication we would like to share some typical FRx support questions and fixes: 1. You can only login FRx with sa user, and when you are trying Dynamics GP user login, password is not recognized. This problem happens when you installed FRx 6.7 from CD and didn’t apply required service pack. Please launch FRx, login as sa, open Help->About FRx and read its version. If it is 6.7.141 – this is the case – no service packs applied. If you are on Great Plains 10.0, please apply at least FRx 7.6 Service Pack 9 6.7.9111, or current (June 2009) SP10 6.7.10343 2. You are trying to login FRx and system freezes on the Building/Verifying GL indexes. This means that your G32 file for the company is corrupt. In you Sysdata, locate *.G32 file with the name, resembling your company name, rename it and login FRx one more time. If you would like to rebuild G32 files for all of your FRx companies, please note, that it rebuilds on logon the file for Default company only, so in order to rebuild for all you should logon FRx, Company->Information and select default one by one all of your active companies 3. You cannot drill down to the line on your report Drilldown Viewer. This means that your detail level is set to Financial Report. Close Drilldown Viewer and return to Catalog, open Dropdown list next to Detail Level and switch it to Financial & Transaction 4. Exporting FRx report to Excel. Run report to open it in FRx Drilldown Viewer. Click File->Export->Worksheet file then select Formatted Excel (XLS, XLSX) 5. How to install new FRx workstation. Please, launch existing FRx installation, open Admin->Organization->Sysdata. Write down the path to Sysdata. Open Help->About FRx and write down release number. Contact your FRx consultant on confirming or obtaining exactly the same service pack for FRx. Then on the new workstation, install FRx with all defaults from CD, then do not launch FRx, but first apply appropriate service pack. Launch FRx, but cancel logon, open Help->About FRx and verify that release number is now the same as on existing FRx workstations. Then go to Admin->Organization->Sysdata and change sysdata path in New location line. You will get message that FRx will exit, login FRx again – you should be able to use this new installation at this point 6. If you need older FRx version support: 6.5 or older, please give us a call: 1-866-528-0577, [email protected]

Dynamics GP Partner CA Newsflash: FRx troubleshooting
Microsoft Dynamics GP financial reporting: Balance, P&L, Cash Flow Statement, consolidated reports are typically designed in FRx Report Designer. Also, seeing increasing number of Great Plains and FRx client applications to be installed and hosted in Citrix and Windows Terminal Server environment, we would like to give you few FRx error messages and background technologies explained
- FRx Specification Set files. If you install FRx – you typically copy Fabrikam Works demo companies, where all their Row Formats, Column Layouts, Reporting Trees and Report catalogs are located in FRxDemo specification set (FRxDemo.f32 file). For your real companies you typically build your reporting blocks in Default spec set (FRxRpts.f32 file). However if you have more than one company and if you place report objects for different companies into different Specification Sets, then when you login FRx you will see the reporting catalog from the specification set, where your default company is currently resides. In order to see reports for the other company, you will have to switch default company in FRx
- Invalid Path Specified for Work Drive. This error message is seen on Citrix or Terminal Server. In order to understand this error and how to cure it, in FRx go to Admin->Processing Options and review the path in Optional Work Drive edit field. Normally you would see there something like this: C:Documents and SettingsAdministrator.DOMAINLocal SettingsTemp4. Please, create shared directory, available to all the domain users with full control privileges and change the path to this newly created directory
- G32 files corruption. If you installed FRx with default settings, please be sure you understand how it rebuilds GL indexes. FRx is universal and it has connectors for such accounting packages as Great Plains, Solomon, Axapta, Navision, etc. In each case it builds so-called GL indexes to expedite reports generation. Default installation places GL indexes to G32 files (with the names, resembling SQL DB company name). If you are getting error message on FRx login – unable to rebuild GL indexes, please rename G32 file for your default FRx company and login FRx one more time. In order to rebuild GL index files for all FRx companies, please rename all G32 files in your Sysdata folder and then login FRx and change in sequence default company to come through each company
- Old FRx versions support. Dynamics GP 10.0, 9.0 and 8.0 require FRx 6.7 (GP 10.0 requires FRx 6.7 SP 9 or newer). Previous versions of Great Plains should work with specific FRx earlier version (GP 7.5 should work with FRx 6.5, for example). These nuances make old FRx user workstation installations FRx version and service pack sensitive
