Am I going to have problems with Microsoft?
I just got a new laptop and want to give my old one to my dad so I want to start the computer off new for him. I'm pretty sure that I wont have any problem reloading Windows XP back onto my old laptop but I am not sure what will happen when I try to reload my Microsoft Office Home and Student Edition 2007 onto it. It is already on two other computers and currently on the laptop that I want to reload (the max of 3 computers). Am I going to have trouble validating MO if I try to reload it on the same laptop that it is on now? Any help from anyone who has dealt with this would be appreciated.
well when you reload windows you wipe the harddrive compleatly clean so.. im guessing that would count as the fourth time and you would not be able to install it, on my parents computer i uninstalled vista and put xp on and mccaffe reconized that it was on that computer before and let me re install it using the same serial code so it is possible that it would work but of course not sure how they deal with home office. if you do end up reinstalling it and it dose not work try http://www.openoffice.org/ its a fantastic open source program capable of everything that can do and more and it is free. Good luck re using that serial but i cant say for sure if it will let you re install it like i said my maccaffe would but not sure about that application. The only problem that i can see with using open office is that i dont think you can run ms Word files on it without conversion (like if i gave you a file on a thumbdrive from MS word you would need to use notepad to open it) but that is not a big deal.
