hardcore Microsoft Windows 7 a slate

Microsoft believes that Windows 7 slate is one of the most important thing is to focus on, with the slew of new products from major manufacturers on the road.

Speaking at the Worldwide Partner Conference, Steve Ballmer stressed that the plates were very central point, a phone with Windows 7

This year, one of the most important things we do in the category of smart devices is really a further development based on Windows 7 and slates Windows 7 mobile phone, said Ballmer.

Its an extremely important area for us.

energy, vigor and push

Ballmer continues: It is certainly an area where you dropped all of the energy and vigor and push that I ever felt for innovation, the hard disk and to compete.

We know that as partners in contact with our mutual customers that they have a lot they want to do, not just at home but at work? C thin scenarios in which they consider as the slate device, scenarios in which you want to cover your smartphone, and we really push it from the perspective of Microsoft.

You see, between us and our partner in the hardware slate and a lot of calls that can be taken to the customer if they come that i other devices randomly is not currently supported by an IT company, we want to give you a wonderful device, customer-centric device, but a device that fits and is in the management of todays enterprise solutions.

will go to appear

coming months will bring much-toting Windows 7 Tablet PC, although they will be very different in their offerings.

In Over the next few months will be the choice of Windows 7 on a tablet, which I think youll find quite impressive? C will come from the people you would expect, Asus, Dell, Samsung, Toshiba, Sony.

They have a keyboard, come without a keyboard, are dockable price points will be many, many forms in many sizes, but it will run Windows 7, will run Windows 7 applications will run the Office accept the ink, as well as input to touch.

and they will be very good for such scenarios for knowledge workers and business people who want to have something that works super well at work, but also promotes their interests, as they travel.

We are hardcore about it.

Which computer should I get?

Okay I need a computer for school, and I've sized down my choices, and now I just need to choose from either a Fujitsu tablet computer or a Mac Book.

Our school needs Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint Access & Publisher, which I heard I can get for free from Open Office for Macs, so that is not the problem. Plus, I've also heard that I can get Vista on my Mac, so no problem either.

The laptop is for, mainly school work, which is like, typing up documents, doing projects and stuff, etc. Oh, and I also take lots of pictures so I want a computer that really detects my stuff quickly. High speed... and stuff. Our school lets us bring our laptops into class as well so I want something light enough, and you know, quick, because note taking would be done there, and if I have to wait for like, say, 1 minute for Word to load, I would've missed out lots already. Yep.

So I would like to hear your suggestions on which one to get - Fujitsu T4220 or a Mac Book.

Thanks! :)

Hi

It sounds like you've almost settled on the Mac, which I am partial to (as are millions of other people).

Sounds like you'll appreciate Apple's "sleep" feature. You simply close the lid of the computer to put it to sleep. You don't have to close any applications or stop what you're doing. Open the lid and you continue doing your work - no waiting for programs to load or the computer to start up. Everything is just as you left it and is instantly available. Most of the time you'll never need to turn your laptop off, just put it to sleep.

Since you want to run Vista get at least 2 Gig of RAM.

OpenOffice may not be the best choice for you. It mangles fonts and the presentation module (Impress) is not very impressive. Since you qualify for the student/teacher edition of Microsoft Office I'd suggest you get that. There's a $25 rebate if you purchase before Sept 3. Also, make sure you go to the Apple Store for Education to get the student discount, a free printer, and a free ipod.

Tablets become the new Smartphone OS Battleground

Tablet computers were once considered to be one of the few technological failures of the last decade. Bill Gates famously believed that tablet computing was the future he wanted Microsoft to pursue back when he showed developing prototypes to the world at the COMDEX trade show in Las Vegas back in 2001, though this wasn't a success with consumers.

The constant demise and then reinvention of the tablet computing form came to a head in 2010 when Apple decided to dip its toe into the pond and release what it thought a tablet computer should be, its key philosophy being that the user interface should be built around the user, and not adapted from a desktop. This was evident in its choice to make use of its iPhone operating system, iOS, on the iPad instead of porting a version of the desktop OS X to it.

The unexpected success of the iPad has caused Apple competitors to start shaking in their boots, and attempt to develop what they envisage a tablet computer to be. They may all share the same hardware specifications, but the major differences come down to the software running on the tablet computers. This has become a battleground for smartphone manufacturers trying to port their mobile operating systems to a bigger screen.

Blackberry

Research in Motion's Blackberry phones have taken the business and enterprise world by storm, creating high quality products that provide services geared towards the businessman on the move. Their reaction to the ever growing tablet computer market has been the PlayBook. This tablet is being pitched to consumers as a complimentary device to their BlackBerry mobiles, working in conjunction with their phone to allow them to carry out heavier tasks such as manipulating documents or surfing the internet, all while being able to sync with their BlackBerry device.

Motorola

The company that had seen market share steadily drop has seen resurgence of late when it comes to their Android smartphone devices. After having spent the best part of the decade trying to create a product that would achieve the popular heights of the RAZR handset, it seems Android is part of their new plan to conquer the mobile world. Their iteration of the tablet computer comes in the form of the Motorola Xoom. This device is one of the only tablet computers available in the market that runs the latest version of Android, Honeycomb 3.0.

Hewlett-Packard

The company that brought us innovations such as the iPAQ line of personal digital assistants, as well as high-spec printers that have allowed us to reduce the cost of digital photography, purchased the innovative but ill-fated Palm Pre line of phones and its webOS software, and publically admitted that they were going to be releasing a webOS tablet in the near future. This proved to be true when they announced the launch of the HP TouchPad tablet computer. Combining all of the excellent usability features of Palm's webOS with a big screen; it looks set to be one of the serious competitors to Apple's iPad.

There are so many more devices being previewed and planned for release this year, and it seems that 2011 will possibly be the year of the table computer. But whether they will be able to compete with the well-received success that is the iPad is another question altogether.
