Chrome OS Impact on Future Web Development

Recent announcements from leaders at web technology firms suggest we will see a convergence of platform specific software and web applications in the future. In fact the Chrome OS session at the Google I/O developer conference focused on this very issue, and many executives explored the potential for Android and Chrome merging into a single solution as standards evolve. Even as mobile application development has increased, the idea of a web-specific application store tied to Chrome OS has raised questions among developers as to the future of web standards. While Google continues to develop its native Android marketplace, it is also open to the growing possibilities of browser-based computing driven by evolving HTML standards.

Broader Potential for Browsers
With the convergence of native OS and web-based development, the advent of cloud computing along with improving HTML standards opens doors to broader potential for browsers. In fact the term "web browser" itself may become outdated as technology evolves beyond the standard desktop web into a variety of computing based OS solutions. Rather than focusing on limited reach for closed Microsoft Windows or Mac OSX platforms, a web-based development solution offers an open view to reach consumers in a variety of ways, given the technology available. As outlined at the Google I/O, the notion of a web-based browser store offers great potential for both developers and consumers.

Browser-Based Software Distribution
The key advantage of browser based computing is an open distribution platform where you can reach nearly every type of user in your own terms - you can update new releases, price your applications accordingly and design your own economic model based upon your needs. Using Google's stylized presentation you can categorize your application, price it accordingly and even distribute unique versions in multiple languages, giving you a potential international audience. Using online marketing methods such as video to promote your application you can save on both development and marketing costs, allowing for a much more efficient distribution system.

HTML5
Since the applications are natively written in HTML5 you can easily distribute an app as well as building a standard web based HTML5 application based upon the technology. Open standards provide much more options for full scale web development when it comes to evaluating potential solutions. Defining your user license uniquely based upon your needs can allow you to create a free and premium version of the application so you can build an audience by allowing them to enjoy productivity or entertainment, in advance of upgrading to the full solution.

Integrated Analytics
Integrated analytics can allow you to readily track the progress of your application installations over time as well so you can understand and reach your user base in real time with updates and offers. Creating multiple user segments and up-sells uniquely tailored to your audience can allow you to benefit from economies of scale as the marketplace increases over time. As a growing number of users turn to web based operating systems on laptops, desktops and smart phones, your potential audience for the solution greatly increases over time.

Can I trust Google not to "be evil"?

Chrome OS? Looks like Google may be moving into Microsoft's territory in the future. Maybe they will become the next "Microsoft". I like Google's penchant for innovation, and their approach to things. The question is however, will they become LIKE Microsoft?

Chrome OS is going to be completely different from Microsoft's Windows 7 or any other operating system. The OS is largely based on the heavy use of Chrome web browser. The aim is for speed, simplicity and safety.

Google like Microsoft? I don't think so
Google Like Apple? Maybe (iOS and Android, Apple TV and Google TV...)

There are two main reasons: First, Google has previously confirmed that Samsung and Acer? Will be released in mid-2011 Chrome OS Internet, and second, Samsung's first netbook Alex Chrome OS some of the basic configuration has been leaked.

Prior to the news show, Alex Samsung Netbook Intel Atom 1.5 GHz dual-core processor-N550, with a 10-inch screen with a resolution of 1200X800, the screen may be configured upper right corner of the camera. Another source said, Alex will be equipped with solid state drives and Samsung 2G memory.

Netbook will therefore a major step forward. Netbook came in the spring of 2008 when the single-core processor, the display size of 10 inches, the relatively low energy consumption, low price, the price is usually $ 350 or so.

General response to the inadequacies of its poor performance, because all processing tasks are completed by a processor. Atom processor performance and the mainstream Core 2 Duo processor and Core Duo notebook processor performance difference i also stems from the different design. Mainstream notebook processor architecture and processor architecture of the Internet is different from its performance even higher. But for the Internet in this core Atom processor is only one widening the gap between the two.

Intel's new dual-core N550 Atom processor clock frequency of 1.5GHz, supports DDR3 memory.

Although this will be favorable for the new Netbook, but the Netbook itself has encountered natural enemies - iPad. Market analyst IDC analyst Bob O'Donnell in the Apple iPad tablet PC about the impact of growth on the Netbook, said: "At present, the Bank said that the Netbook will be the end of an exaggeration." O'Donnell did not derogatory iPad effect But for those who want a portable device running Microsoft Windows for consumers, the Internet can be described as the best choice, and the price is much lower than the android tablet. He said: "The Netbook is still lower than the price of iPad. IPad applications running on the application is different from the notebook. Even running an e-mail, Web browsing and other applications the same, the Internet and send and receive e-mail users in different ways."

Data show that the Internet is much higher than the shipments iPad. O'Donnell expects the sale of Intel for the Internet nearly 20 million Atom processors will be available before the end of 15 million or 20 million processors. Intel said on Monday that so far the Internet has been available for about 70 million Atom processors.
