iWork '08 Questions: - who has used?
Please only respond if you are familiar with the new version of iWork. 1 Is there a combination correspondence between Pages and Numbers? 2 How much compatibility between PowerPoint and Keynote work? 3 Can open documents iWork in the Windows version of Microsoft Office as well as the Mac version? 4 Please list all designs different page setup pages can do (business cards, CD inserts, etc). 5 How The numbers are open Excel documents with images and / or complex formatting (which can not manage Excel) in them? 6 Can you import tables numbers in Pages documents> 7 Does Pages have a word / character count?
1. There is no "merge" function between numbers and pages. Since the numbers allows you to insert text boxes and tables arranged in a leaf (ie appears when in "print view" and you can even edit the objects in this view, as opposed to "preview" the MS Office way) is pretty powerful "Word Processing" and "design" skills, and would not really need to convert it to the pages. However, you can easily copy and paste tables from one program to another. 2. Keynote is way, way ahead of PowerPoint in terms of graphics (transitions slide shows, animations, etc.) You will be able to import virtually any document from PowerPoint in Keynote, but may not always work perfectly the other way. One great thing about the pages: when you export a document to your eqiuvalent of MS Office (ie, Keynote to PPT), displays a window that says all the problems found and how to solve them. You may have to forego some of the most elegant animations to make your slide show, but should work fine. 3. As well as you can open Office: MS Office on Windows Mac, you can open documents that have been exported (not the same as the original pages or Keynote or document numbers) format MS Office file. iWork '08 is now compatible with. Open XML Office format, which uses MS Office '08. 4. 150 pages with templates, plus the option to create your own. I will not list them all. The categories are: letters, envelopes, forms (including invoices and faxes), resumes, reports (Both guided and image-oriented text-processing), Miscellaneous (meeting notes, newsletters, agendas, scripts, storyboards, lab reports, menus, magazines, etc), newsletters, brochures, leaflets (as in the things in your phone number is on the bottom of the page out slips), Posters, Cards / Invitations, Cards, and the blanks format. You get the picture. 5. Once again, Excel does not open the document numbers, because Microsoft not admit any other person in the world. However, the numbers can be exported to Excel. When complex graphics and formatting that Excel does not recognize, Sometimes the numbers of them out (in the case of images within cells) and sometimes reverse them to be more compatible with Excel (like changing a Chart 3-D to 2-D one, or the placement of each table in the largest leaf in a "table", the equivalent of a full sheet in Excel). The great thing is, you get a small window that appears and tells you exactly what are the problems I encountered and how resolved. 6. See no. 1 above: you can copy and paste with easily - without any problems. 7. Of course. Who do you think is this, Microsoft? Moreover, it is buried within four thousand different menus: one click button that says "Inspector" (curious, does exactly what it says it does) and under the label of the entire sheet, click "Info" to make known, page, line, paragraph, graphical, and has character, that automatically adjust as you type, because this window can be always open. Imagine: something that is easy for once.
