Tulalip: A Next Kin to Social Network Development
Although the social networking development revolution began with GEOCITES.com in 1994, we knew about it only after Orkut came into existence. Millions of users started sharing every minute detail of their life; for example, what they eat, when they sleep, and where they shop. Looking back over the decades, it is not wrong to call social network developmenta social revolution that entered the life of every individual driving Internet into a new era.
As we dive into the past, I remember connecting with old school friends reaching at their houses. Thanks to social networking platform a single update is enough. Sharing photos and memories won't take more than a few clicks. If you have anything funny to share, just post a video and get comments from your group. To know what future holds for social networking site, it is crucial to know its ancestors.
Beginning with "Geocities" in 1994, social networking headed to "TheGlobe.com", which gave freedom to the users to publish their own content personalizing their online experience. Later, "Sixdegrees.com" offered a profile creation and listing friends' option, engaging audiences even further. Pioneering the online connection, "Friendster" was launched in 2002 with user-base as large as 3 million users in the first three months. MySpace, Facebook and Twitter followed giving us a completely new definition for the social network.
Google + being the newest buzz after Facebook, we are here to discuss on a completely new platform by Microsoft in answer to Google and Facebook. The news leaked as a surprise to many when they got to know that Microsoft's new social search feature integrated with Facebook and Twitter is about to launch in the near future. Microsoft named its future social networking development as a Tulalip, the name associated to Native Americans.
Last week, Microsoft published the prototype of an extremely secret social media design project. Tulalip is an internal project name for the site Socl.com. It's an internal design project from one of the Microsoft's research teams. Although it is not confirmed that Tulalip is a social networking site, speculation arises as its first page read "Find what you want and Share what you know, easier than ever". Also, shown were non-working links for "See how it works", "Privacy statement", and more.
It seems Tulalip tribal members are not happy with the moniker Microsoft has attached to its upcoming project. Tulalip members are in talks with Microsoft with this regard. For now, Tulalip and Socl.com are mysteries as the site shows the accidental release of the page. Even if such a development comes-out, masses expect this social networking development to be more enticing than what Google+ has offered. Audiences need a reliable platform and not the replica of Facebook with a new look. Honestly, after the release of Google+, I did not find any reason to switch to it only for its circles and a video call feature, which is soon to arrive in Facebook too. Not official yet, but we look forward to follow the story.

How long would it take to build a large social network like Facebook?
How long would it take to build a social network like Facebook? Twitter? or Skype?
Days, weeks, months, a year?? Would it help to get it done sooner if the programmers knew EXACTLY how it is going to be already?
Also, what about if expert programmers were hired? Like people who program for big companies like Microsoft, Facebook, Apple. How long should it take?
Estimates anyone? Thanks!
It would only take months of dedication, considering working with the proper people, but it will take years of publicizing and making your website a famous, well-known site.

Creating ripples in Social Media: The Skype Deal
Skype has redefined the way people communicated all around the world although running in losses yet the deal between Microsoft and Skype was watched all around the world with awe and surprise. With the big titans clashing head on to expand their market share in the digital world this deal is surely going to be a turning point.
There have been instances where we have observed that many big corporations wanted to won Skype Ebay is a big live example. Microsoft a big player in window phones will surely be getting an edge over its arch rivals. This deal is surely going to keep the windows giant's flag held high in the communication arena. In what was rumored to be a bidding war between Facebook and Microsoft, ended with a price tag not seen for quite some time.
While we (in Australia) were all sleeping, Microsoft bought the Estonian company Skype for $8.5 billion. Such big deals always have an international implication given the usage of products of Microsoft and Skype all over the world. What makes this even more tremendous, is that Skype isn't even profitable as yet – and has tremendous debt.
Last year Skype's revenues sat at $860 million, and had operating profits of $264 million. The company also carries $686 million in debt. Many people will also see this decision of Microsoft with skeptism as buying an organization neck deep in debt is no child's play. It is believed the Skype purchase was a tasty one by Microsoft: to further integrate into the Social web, and to claim its large user base of 663 million users. The takeover of Skype allows Microsoft to integrate new services into its product range. Namely, to make aggressive inroads into the mobile market.
With the awesome facilities like video chatting and voice chatting being provided by Skype Microsoft has already gained access to billions of customers all across the world. The major move that needs to be observed in future is how Microsoft taps this big market and what changes it is going to experiment with Skype.
On the other end there have been ripples in the market about bringing out a new IM with all the functionalities of Skype lest Microsoft makes Skype a paid service.
