on my windows xp a notification has popped up saying YOU MAY BE A VICTIM OF SOFTWARE COUNTERFEITING?
i then followed the steps online and installed some things from microsoft that i needed to run the test and this came up
This copy of Windows did not pass genuine validation.
The product key found on this computer is a Volume License Key (VLK) that has been blocked
and it is now saying that i need to buy a new windows xp
how can i get rid of this i haven't got the money to pay for another one

it always says your copy of winbloze is illegal and all that crap.
you have a cd-key on the side of your computer (usually)
call microsnot and read them the number and they'll tell you what to type in to make your windoze 'legal' again. (not that it ever wasn't)
it's a way for them to get money for nothing.
you'd be surprised at how many people will just rush out and buy a new copy of winbloze rather than call them.
sure, they'll make you stay on the phone for a good while, but don't give up. stand in with the skanks and wait em out...

If I save Microsoft Office onto my external HD and reformat my hard drive, ...?
will I be able to, once I reformat my hard drive, drag the applications back onto my desktop and have them be fully operational?
I'm attempting to install Windows XP on my Macbook, and its giving me a hard time. I'm getting an error message stating, "the disk cannot be partitioned becuase some files cannot be moved" and it's telling me to "
Back up the disk and use Disk Utility to format it as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume. Restore your information to the disk and try using Boot Camp Assistant again."
Well, quite frankly, since Microsoft Office came with three licenses I sold the disk and two second licenses for $150. Microsoft Office is fully functional on my computer, but I want to make sure it will still work and I will not need to reinstall it (since I won't be able to) if I end up erasing and reformatting my HD.
Thoughts? Will I have a problem if I drag and drop the application to my external HD?
No, it won't function. Most programs (especially MS' own) need certain registry settings and other files that aren't in the Program Files folder, and can't be transferred.
For your situation, you might be able to use a partitioning program (like EASEUS) to shrink the partitions enough so both the Mac volume and the NTFS (Windows) volume fit. But it might be better to ask around Mac forums to see if what you're trying is even possible.
